Duties: Reports to President. Will be primarily responsible for managing the legal aspects relating to regulation and contracts in the Central States. A major emphasis will be on handling all regulatory matters associated with government agencies and related statutes such as: the Missouri Public Service Commission (MPSC), Iowa Utilities Board (IUB), Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Dept. of Environmental Services, Federal Power Act, Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act, Natural Gas Act and Natural Gas Policy Act, and other related agencies and compliances. Act as in house subject matter expert on all regulatory and operational legal issues impacting lines of business in a dynamic and changing industry. Handle complex legal issues and provide advice and counsel related to utility regulation including litigation, tariff review, proposed legislation, compliance requirements and customer complaints; provide research and writing as to regulatory requirements; assist in the preparation of filings and assist in the preparation of testimony in proceedings, including rate cases, while developing close relationships and representing the company at the Commissions. Work as a public affairs practitioner. Review decisions of courts, other states and the federal government to determine precedent in regulatory legal matters. Draft and revise legal opinions, rules and regulations, including explaining and defending company goals and objectives. Advise superiors on the probable legal or other impact of proposed changes in rules, regulations, and applicable laws. Review files, records and briefs and perform research on legal questions. Work closely with the Regulatory Department, developing and executing the overall strategy and providing assistance with support of state and federal regulatory filings. Manage execution of deferred energy and rate cases, including preparing witnesses before and during proceedings and hearings, before the MPSC, IUB, ICC, FERC and legislators. Support corporate governance functions for affiliates in multiple US jurisdictions, assist with due diligence relating to mergers and acquisitions, finance transactions and provide commercial advice and assistance to the regulatory team. Assist in preparation of financial and cost-based analyses to support future rate cases. Provide legal advice and representation in connection with general business matters (commercial transactions, contracts, company standardized forms, lease agreements, etc.). Provide legal guidance and draft and negotiate contracts relating to, among other things permitting and licensing, property rights, environmental regulation, vendor agreements and energy procurement. Monitor and manage litigation proceedings involving companys operations. Provide, upon request and contingent on availability of time, assistance to other similar utilities owned or controlled by company. React and respond to external queries and requests relating to various legal issues. Assist in corporate initiatives in the creating and implementing of governance and corporate policies.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
