Those that are not hired will be placed on an eligibility list as positions become available.
Applicants must be 18 years of age at the time of hire, posses a valid drivers license and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Firefighter 1&2 and MO EMT-B and/or prior experience preferred.
Applicants must pass pre-employment testing prior to starting position.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to emergency calls and provide medical assistance as a firefighter/EMT - Perform firefighting duties, including extinguishing fires and rescuing individuals - Conduct search and rescue operations in hazardous environments - Administer first aid and CPR to injured individuals - Assess and monitor vital signs of patients - Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and vehicles - Conduct fire safety inspections and educate the public on fire prevention measures Skills:
- Strong physical fitness and ability to perform heavy lifting - Proficient in assessing vital signs and providing medical assistance - Knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment used in firefighting - Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills - Ability to work well under pressure and in high-stress situations - Effective communication skills for interacting with team members, patients, and the public Starting salary for FF/EMT-B is $48,191.
Starting salary for FF/Paramedic is $53,970 based on a average 56-hour workweek.
