Summary:
To assist in inspection of infrastructure projects, implementation of MS4 stormwater program, and to provide technical assistance to Public Works and Engineering Departments in a manner that is consistent with City policies and standards.
This position is a safety sensitive position ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS I.
Technical Assistance Activities 30% of Time A.
Communicates thoroughly to Public Works Director and City Engineer regarding status and schedule of City projects and reports.
B.
Conducts research of department files, court/legal records, database records, hardcopy materials, internet sites, or other sources as needed.
C.
Utilizes GPS equipment to aid in accurate mapping of utilities, as needed.
D.
Performs all duties in an ethical and professional manner.
II.
Infrastructure Inspection Activities 30% of Time E.
Works directly with City's Public Works and Engineering Departments to maintain a high level of quality in construction of City's infrastructure.
F.
Exhibits accurate understanding of engineered project plans and specifications.
G.
Inspects materials and methods used on the job site to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
H.
Maintains daily diary of project inspections.
I.
Measures materials used on job site to determine proper progress payment to be made to contractor.
J.
Communicates with various City departments, ensuring for consistent inspection of construction of City's infrastructure and special projects.
II.
Stormwater Activities 40% of Time A.
Responds to and provides follow-up on citizen stormwater concerns, complaints, or violations, assuring for a positive public image and for professionalism and timeliness.
B.
Performs periodic inspection of stormwater outfalls and other stormwater features as needed, ensuring for compliance with City's MS4 permit.
C.
Participates in review of Stormwater Prevention Plans and issuance of Grading Permits.
D.
Participates in public outreach and education projects related to compliance with City's MS4 permit.
E.
Maintains and updates reports for city's MS4 stormwater team.
F.
Perform monitoring and stream assessments in accordance with City's MS4 permit.
