Summary:
Primary responsibilities will be all SNAP Outreach efforts and back up for GSNAP efforts.
Printing of applications, related outreach and educational materials for member agencies and potential clients, traveling to various locations to reach potential clients.
Participate in area resource councils, farmers markets, and other events to promote the food bank's SNAP Outreach Plan.
Determining if individuals who access food bank partner agencies are receiving benefits.
Distributing brochures and other educational materials to food bank partner agencies.
In addition, this Specialist will have sole responsibility for SNAP Outreach at our Good Neighbor Pantry operation and assigned to special projects designed to increase the number of SNAP applicants in our service area.
Will also be back up to all GSNAP efforts, as needed.
Will attend 1-2 mobile distributions each month to reach out to mobile clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Food Safety Attends annual food safety training for food bank staff.
Practices food safety policies to maintain an environment conducive to safe food handling and distribution.
Assists in monitoring all member agencies annually for food safety and distribution compliance and other projects as assigned by Partner Relations/Compliance Director SNAP Specialist Provides SNAP & MM application assistance (with a focus on seniors) at various social service agencies and food pantries, educating low-income individuals about benefits, administering pre-screenings, assisting with application follow up.
Coordinates with local agencies including social service programs, food pantries, senior low income apartments, Aging Matters, State offices, and community partners Provides information and help to individuals and families, program staff and volunteers based upon a comprehensive understanding of food resources and other available benefits.
Remains up to date with changes in SNAP & MM benefits and shares knowledge with local partners and SEMO food bank staff.
Attends monthly SNAP webinars and biannual meeting with Feeding Missouri SNAP leader.
Assits when needed with SNAP applications obtained through Google website & stays current with knowledge.
Works to meet submitted application goals.
Travels regularly within the 16 counties served by Southeast Missouri Food Bank.
Must be willing to work some nights and Saturdays.
Represents SEMO Food Bank at County Area Resource Meetings as able.

Qualifications:
Must be warm, compassionate, and outgoing.
Must conduct outreach and successfully motivate seniors to participate in surveys and screenings.
Must be able to orally communicate and read and write in English at a level that is reflective of someone at this level of responsibility.
Computer literate - especially with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Valid Missouri driver's license and a good driving record.
Must be willing to travel.
Ability to work effectively with people of divergent backgrounds and opinions.
Clean and neat appearance with a team attitude.

Must be able to work some Saturdays and weeknights SKILLS AND
Qualifications:
This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and an interest in work with low-income populations and ethnically diverse populations.
Must have excellent written/oral communication skills.
Must be able to work well with others internally and in the field.
Must have a valid Missouri driver's license and a good driving record.
Experience working with non-profit community organizations and knowledge of hunger issues preferred.
Advanced computer skills required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
